The future.

As I was doing dishes tonight, I stopped mid-washing and looked up to find Bradley studying.

Now, with a law student (who is concurrently getting another degree) in the home, this isn't an uncommon occurrence. I've seen him there before. Swim gear hanging out to dry when he gets a spare hour to swim. Back pack open, books all over the table, sitting on a chair that needs a new cushion, working hard for his education.

But when I looked up from dishes this time, instead of seeing him as he is now, I saw the future. I saw all of the hard work this man would continue to do for our future family. I saw the late nights and busy schedules. I saw the sacrifices we'd make, the sacrifices he'd make. I saw him sitting at our dinner table again, probably with different surroundings. Maybe a newer table and newer carpet, his swimming bag in it's proper place. Maybe with little kids running around.

And then I saw where we'd been. Worrying about jobs after we got married. A couple nights in the hospital for my appendectomy. Getting into Law school and my program. Late nights wondering what we'd do after we were done. Deciding that Brad would get his second degree. Seeing God's hand direct us in our life. We haven't had much time together. Only three years. But enough to have made sacrifices already. Enough to have had problems and trials. Enough to have built the foundation that will carry us into the future.

And as I stood there, looking at him, I smiled.

Home, home on the range.

I'm hoooooooome! It's so good to be home. Houston was an absolute blast, but there's nothing quite like snuggling with the hubs. He even made me a sign! How adorable is that? What a sweetie. After I got home, we went to Pig Out In the Park and stuffed ourselves full of German sandwiches, strawberry lemonade and our first ever funnel cake. It was a great night, and I'm so glad to be back.

This is my too-big smile. :)

IT'S BRANDON!

So I was flipping through my Facebook feed when I saw that Brandon Sanderson was going to be in Spokane, TONIGHT! I called and texted Brad a million times and told him he HAAAAAD TO GO. He was more than willing and took all of our books with him. Here he is with our favorite author!!

How awesome is that?! I'm DYING that I was out of town for it! I would be. THE ONE TIME HE COMES TO SPOKANE! I can't believe it. I was SOOOO excited that Brad was able to go. Brad said it was awesome to meet him. Really nice to his fans and super nerdy. Everything you want in your fantasy author, right? I look forward to the day when I can meet him, too, but in the mean time, his autographed books (and personalized messages!) will have to do.

If you haven't ever read any of his books, we recommend them ALL! Elantris is really great, but so is Warbreaker! AND THE MISTBORN TRILOGY IS MY FAVORITE! And the first installment of the Stormlight Archive, The Way of Kings, is seriously amazing (but super long). He's one of those rare authors that can build characters and worlds that automatically suck you in and make you wish you could never leave.

I could go on, but I don't think I will. :)

TRES ANOS!

I can't believe it's been three years! We've learned a lot so far, but we've still got a long way to go. I guess that's what we have eternity for. Either way, I love this man more than I did three years ago, and we're excited for what life has in store for us.

To celebrate, Brad made me a surprise dinner then took me out for chocolates.
He knows me so well. :)

 He makes me laugh. O:)

 Crazy face.

MY MOMMA

My mom came to town, whaaaaat?! I was soooo happy to have her.

We shopped, ate, watched movies, laughed, talked and had an all around blast. It was no wonder that I cried (just a little) when I dropped her off at the airport. I love that woman!

Bro. A!

Brother Aronson was in town! He took us out to dinner, and we had a great time! Afterwards, we stopped and got some ice cream.

There is no thing as "too excited" when it comes to B&J's Chocolate Fudge Brownie!

Brad and his little man.

Uncle Brad and the little man before the baptism.
 Staying entertained while waiting.
This is one of my favorites!

Brad loves his little nephew so much. Watching how gentle he is with the little guy, it fills me with pride! I know Bradley is going to be a fantastic father. :)

Awake, my soul!

Sometimes I feel like I'm running in place. I want to go somewhere, but because I'm so human, I just don't. The balm to that aching is more often than not the words of a prophet long gone.

We are GU.

It has been forever, hasn't it?? I swear. Blogging is at the very bottom of my list, but something exciting happened today, and I wanted to share!!

Today was totally normal otherwise. I slept in a little bit then went with some friends to study at 10ish and didn't come home until around 2:00ish. When I got home, Brad picked up his keys and ran out the door saying, "I'll be back in 30 minutes. I've got a surprise! You're going to love it!!" The word "surprise" peaked my interest, and I was racking my brain thinking about all of the surprises he could be bringing back. Good for him, I'm not a good guesser, and my only three guesses were: chocolate (likely), flowers (semi-likely) or J.Crew Jeans (extremely unlikely). Hahaha. I had no idea. I'd make a terrible detective.

Anyways, so I was sitting at the window waiting for him to get back, and I see him with a little envelope in his hands, and I'm like, "Huh?" So he comes in and hands me the envelope, and I'm super confused, and I open it up...and...it's two tickets to the game tonight!!!! Oh my gosh! I was so excited, I teared up!! I was jumping and down and screaming. I was so happy!! YAY!!!! We had an absolute blast, had awesome seats and had some Zips afterwards where we talked and talked and talked and talked. I loved it. It was the best night. I love my hubs.

 Before the game!
 Yay for awesome seats!
The student section was fantastically fun to watch! They have these awesome poster-sized heads of all the players. Oh my gosh. The best thing ever! Some of our favorite cheers were "Take his whistle" when that dumb ref kept making super dumb calls and singing "Na-na-na-na Goodbye!!" to players that fouled out (2)!
The awesome view!

THANK YOU, BROTHER METCALF!!!
